Swing Drivers Contracts

Because swing drivers are almost always short term and ad hoc, they have different terms and often there are different expectations around submission of timesheets/invoices.  These will obviously vary with each production company.

I don't think I'll be offending anyone when I say that I've never met a swing driver yet who enjoyed paperwork and due to the often frantic nature of their swing shifts, there needs to be allowances made with it.
My experience has been as long as the co-ordinator/captain can pin them down with their simplified start work form, getting correct bank account and IRD details and keeping accurate time records, we can usually manage their timesheets and pays between us.

Licenses range from fixed body trucks to truck and trailer units and can include any number of endorsements
so there are generally two rates to recognise varying skill levels of drivers.

Class 1,2 and 4 at one rate and slightly more for Class 5.
They get paid a flat hourly rate up to 13 hours, not including unpaid 30 minute meal breaks after every 5.5 hours.
They also get per diems if they're away from home for more than 24 hours (including travel to and from vehicle pick up or drop off point)
.
Swing drivers must also agree to abide by NZTA Land Transport rules.
